Support for Canon XF-AVC video possible?

Is it possible to get NeoFinder to display and play Canon XF-AVC video files as it does some other video formats?

I've added ffmpeg to NeoFinder as described here:
https://www.cdfinder.de/guide/22/22.7/n ... fmpeg.html

Files from a Sony camera (I believe a FS-7mkII), and from some other cameras show up with thumbnail images and can be played within NeoFinder. But the XF-AVC files I have (from a Canon C300mkII and C70) just show up with the VLC pylon icon. And VLC media player can play them when I click.

As I understand it (and I might have this wrong), VLC uses more than just ffmpeg to provide support for various video files. And Canon's XF-AVC files are MPEG AVC/h.264 packaged with an MXF wrapper.

Is there something I can do (or add to) NeoFinder to get it to play XF-AVC files within a NeoFinder library? Or am I just doing something wrong? Or could XF-AVC thumbnails and playback be added to future versions of NeoFinder?

Thanks!

What file format do they use, what video container?

Is that plain .mp4? Or another file name suffix?

Could you please provide us with a sample file?

Thank you very much!

Thanks for your response! Sorry it took me a few days to follow up; busy week.

I don't know much more about the XF-AVC format beyond what I wrote: "Canon's XF-AVC files are MPEG AVC/h.264 packaged with an MXF wrapper." And googling around, I don't see much more info than that. A sample file name: A004C137_240216LF_CANON.MXF

Yes, I can provide a file. I don't have many short files, though. How can I get a nine-second 476MB file to you?

FTP? Google Drive, etc?

Best,

Jim

Hello,

ah, thanks, that is good to know!

If it uses the Sony MXF container format, you can teach NeoFinder that quickly either with the free ffmpeg plugin:

https://www.cdfinder.de/guide/22/22.7/n ... fmpeg.html

or using the latest Apple ProRes codecs:
