More cool little things new in NeoFinder 8.8:
When you select more than 9 files to be opened by any external application, NeoFinder will ask you a quick confirmation.
Pretty helpful when, in the heat of the moment, you have selected two thousand photos to be opened in Adobe Photoshop, or Affinity Photo...

The
Help menu in NeoFinder 8.8 now has the option to search for menu commands!
That is pretty useful if you can't find a specific command in the many menus of NeoFinder, or if you are uncertain where to look.
Use that change to check out the other items in the Help menu as well, maybe there are some things you haven't seen yet...

NeoFinder 8.8 now supports GPS GeoTags written into MOV video files by the
ProCamera.app on
iOS.
That software uses a slightly incorrect ISO format that NeoFinder will now properly process for you when cataloging such video files.

NeoFinder Users Guide:

Flatten the curve!

Exporting a very large Catalog into the
text format now uses a LOT less memory with NeoFinder 8.8.
After receiving some reports from users telling us that NeoFinder Catalogs with more than 15 million files and folders would need a lot of memory during the export into the text format, we have inspected the code and massively reduced that amount for NeoFinder 8.8.
Now the memory usage curve is nice and flat, as it shall be.
Enjoy!

More ffmpeg!

NeoFinder uses the extremely powerful free
ffmpeg tool to get more metadata and thumbnails out of video files when you catalog them.
We cannot really bundle ffmpeg directly with NeoFinder, due to license restrictions, so we document where you can place the ffmpeg executable file for NeoFinder to find and use it.
NeoFinder 8.8 will now automatically discover ffmpeg installations by
Homebrew, to the local path "/opt/homebrew/bin/ffmpeg"
https://formulae.brew.sh/formula/ffmpeg

Sony MXF video metadata

Sony video cameras write very interesting special metadata into
MXF files, but unfortunately, their latest firmware update has changed the specific tag they are using to mark that data.
We have adapted NeoFinder 8.8 to be able to read that valuable metadata from both the old and the new location now. Enjoy!
